Travel Madison Wisconsin
Few years ago, during my PhD I attended Molecular genetics of bacteria and phages conference at Madison. The meeting that took place at University of Wisconsin – Madison was really well organized, lectures were fascinating and it was great opportunity to meet scientists from around the world, and to explore this lovely city.

Most of the sessions were at Memorial Union. The Union is located on the shore of beautiful Lake Mendota. On the lakeshore to the north of the building is the Terrace, a popular outdoor space overlooking the Lake, with a view of sailboats and the sound of live music.

Between the lectures I took the opportunity to walk around the city. I truly enjoyed the quiet and calm nature of Madison, with its charming little houses, picturesque lakes and beautiful nature sites.

For me, the main attractions of the city were: Wisconsin State Capitol and Olbrich Botanical Gardens. State Capitol is a great Roman Renaissance-style building and at Capitol Square you can visit on Saturday one of the best farmers markets.

Olbrich Botanical Gardens are very peaceful and delightful place with beautiful flora and butterflies, golden Thai Temple, lovely little bridge and great variety of blossoming flowers.
